After graduating in the opera class at the Premier Academy of Music in Sofia, Zvetelina Vassileva debuts on the stage of National Opera as Amelia in “Un Ballo in Maschera” and later with a debut in Turandot with Gena Dimitrova, Don Carlo with Nikolay Gyaurov. She releases Desdemona in “Otello”, Leonora in “Il Trovatore” during the next seasons. Meantime she wins the international competitions in Italy “T. Scippa” and “Fr. Cilea”.
Following another competition in Milan, she specializes with the famous tenor C. Bergonzi in Milan, La Scala. Vassileva debuts with Leonora’s part in “Il Trovatore” in San Francisco and next season she reterns at the premiere of “Russlan and Ludmyla” , “Il Coronazione di Popea” and “Otello” at the reputable international festival in Wexford. After a huge success she is appointed as a new opera world star by the critics – The Times, Toronto Star, NY Times, Sunday Times, Independent, Opera London, Opera Japan and many others.
Next are gastroles in many of the most prestigious opera theaters – Covent Garden London, Metropolitan New York, Berlin Stadts Opera, Opera La Mone, Brussels, Moscow, Amsterdam, Houston, Toronto, Tokyo, Detroit, Miami, Seville, Prague, Belgrade, Bucharest, Cardiff, Glasgow, Shanghai and the Festivals in Wexford and Edinburg.
Zvetelina Vassileva received the most prestigious reviews from the critic and the public for the premiers of Il Trovatore, Otello, La Traviata, La Boheme, Manon Lesco, Un Ballo in Maschera, Don Carlos, AIDA, Tosca, William Tell, The Marriage of Figgaro, Turandot, Adriana Lecouvreur, Don Giovanni etc.
Zvetelina appears in concert programs in famous Albert Hall in London, Amsterdam – Concert Gebouw, Moscow Palace, Opera in the Park – San Francisco, Toronto – George Weston Recital Hall where she sings with Ag. Baltsa, G. Sabatini, Giacomini, Armiliato, D. Desi, Frontali, Jose Cura, Hvorostosky, Anna Netrebko and many others.
Zvetelina has the pleasure to work with conductors as M. Arena, A. Guadagno, D.Oren, Sir B. Heiting, Armiliato, N. Luisotti, L. Maazl, V. Gergiev, C. Rizzi, L. Zagrozeg, P. Summers, R. Palumbo, etc. and as well with many prestigious directors – Fr. Zeffirelli, W. Decker, A. Fassini, E. Moshinsky, Chr. Alden, J. Cox, P. Hall, Gr. Vick, L. Mansouri , Fr. Zambello and others.
In the last 5-6 seasons Zvetelina Vassileva is a frequent guest of Wichita Grand Opera in Kansas where she sings at the premiers of “La Boheme” – Mimi, “Otello” – Desdemona, “AIDA”, “The Marriage of Figaro” – Contessa Rosina, “William Tell” – Princessa Matilda and as Princess Turandot in “Turandot”.
During 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons Vassileva sings at the premieres of “Turandot” and “AIDA” – The Summer Festival in Split (Croatia) and also in Bugaria – again in “Turandot”, in “Don Carlo” as Elizabeth, as Michaela in “Carmen” and The 9 symphony – Opera Stadium.
In January 2018 the soprano was as a guest at the Shanghai Grand Lyric Theatre in the new production of “Turandot” as Princess Turandot – Italian / Chines cast with conductor Renato Palumbo, director R. Ando, Marco Berti, Maria Guleghina, etc.
In March 2018 is the new production of “Turandot” at the National Opera Stara Zagora and in the beginning of April Vassileva is a soloist in “Stabat Mater” – Dvorac at Bulgaria Hall, Sofia.
In the summer will follow performances in “AIDA” and “Turandot” at the International Festival Pravets and in Pleven Summer Theatre.
The next year – 2019, starts for Zvetelina Vassileva with “Don Giovanni” as Donna Anna, returning to Wichita Grand Opera (new production).
